David Cheatham

David Cheatham, 67, a husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully with his loving family at his resident in East Bernard, Texas, on Sunday, March 10th, 2024.
David was born in Houston, TX, on May 29th, 1956, to the late Roy Charles Cheatham Sr. and Nell (Mann) Cheatham. He was a graduate of University of Houston Police Academy and was a Harris County detective. David married the love of his life Valerie Jean (Murphy) Cheatham on November 11th, 1995, in Houston, TX.
David loved fishing, riding motorcycles, camping, loved his guns and cars, was a huge history buff, and loved to read. One of his greatest joys in life was coaching his kids when they where younger, but above all he loved spending that time with his family.
He is preceded in death by parents, Roy and Nell Cheatham, his sister Carol Ann Cheatham and brother Roy Charles Cheatham Jr.
David is survived by his wife Valerie Cheatham, daughter Pamela Cheatham Smith and husband John of Rosenberg, TX, Magdalen Nicole Cheatham and husband Michael of Conroe, TX, and son Zachary David Cheatham of East Bernard, TX. He is also survived by his grandchildren Savannah Lynne Smith and Sawyer James Smith. Pallbearers will be Zachary David Cheatham, Michael Anthony Hernandez, Bobby David Murphy, Darrin Roy Cheatham, James Edward Talas and Christian Rene Alcalar. Honorary Pallbearers are Keith Newman, Bruce Wayne Cheatham, and Jerry Boettcher.
Visitation will be on Thursday, March 14th, 2024, at 1pm at Wharton Funeral Home (515 E. Boling, Wharton, TX 77488) with the Service following at 2pm, officiated by Bob Hobbins, and a graveside service after at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton.
The family of David would like to express their thanks to the Houston Hospice El Campo Plaid Team, his nurse Allison Brown, and his caregiver Birdy Moore, for their years of love and care.
