Daniel Charles Svec, 79, of East Bernard passed away peacefully surrounded by his beloved family on Tuesday July 8, 2025, at a Sugarland hospital. He was born on September 10, 1945, in East Bernard, Texas to the late August and Mildred Svec.

Daniel was raised in the Hungerford area and attended Hungerford schools and later graduated from East Bernard High School in 1964. Following high school Daniel was drafted in the Army at the age of 19 where he did active service in the Vietnam War. Upon his return he married Charlene Tydlacka on November 25, 1967, in Wharton. They made their home in the Hungerford area where they raised their only daughter, Dana. He spent his earlier years working at W-K-M in Missouri City.

Daniel enjoyed participating in hunting trips with friends, going to turkey shoots, playing dominoes, and participating in cookoff competitions. He was a dedicated fan of the Houston Oilers, frequently attending games as a season ticket holder. He continued his support with the Houston Texans, often taking his family to the games and enjoying early Sunday morning tailgating activities. He would attend many events, particularly washer tournaments, where he would support his grandson and son-in-law. Daniel was always excited for his family trips down to Louisiana to play his favorite card games at the casino. He enjoyed polka music and had a special talent for playing his accordion.

Daniel is survived by his wife of 57 years, Charlene Svec, daughter, Dana Orsak and husband Bernard, sister Shirley Krpec and husband Bennie. Grandchildren Cameron Orsak, Carissa Pesl and husband Joseph, along with numerous nieces and nephews and friends.

Daniel was a lifelong member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford. He was a member of American Legion Post 226 of East Bernard for many years and later became a member of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 1069 in El Campo,

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14, 2025, starting at 10 a.m. with a rosary recited at 10:30 a.m. at St. John’s Catholic Church in Hungerford. A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at 11 a.m. with Father Charles Dwomoh officiating. A Rite of Burial and Committal will follow at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Hungerford.
