Charles Reid, 79, of Beasley, Texas, passed away on October 5, 2026. He was born on January 22, 1947, in Woodville, Texas to the late Arnold and Nelda Hatton Reid.

Charles was raised in the East Texas community of Warren and graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1967 and was deployed to Vietnam. While stationed there, he was known as a tunnel rat, clearing tunnels of personnel before more troops advanced. He received two purple hearts and several other medals for his courage and bravery. Charles was discharged in 1969 and went on to become a peace officer. He was a patrol officer in Bay City, Richmond and was the Chief of Police in Beasley. He later worked for the Fort Bend County Drainage department and retired from Southwest Waterworks. Charles enjoyed raising sheep, collecting many things, working outside, and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Charles Reid is survived by Ellen Reid of Beasley, children, Kenneth Reid (Angie), Donovan Reid (Tanya) of Richmond, grandchildren, Blake Reid (Sami), Sheridan Reid and Jill Reid, Madalyn Lane and Everett Lane. Great Grandchildren, Sayde and River, his siblings, sister Pam Bautz and brothers, Greg Palumbo, Philip Palumbo and Steven Palumbo.

Charles always loved being in East Texas and will be buried there in a ceremony at Allison Cemetery in Warren Texas on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
