Bobby Kerns

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Bobby Lee Kerns, who left us peacefully on January 4, 2026, at the age of 49. Born on October 10, 1976, in Lufkin, Texas, Bobby was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend who touched the lives of many. 

Bobby is survived by his devoted wife, Heidi Kerns; his loving daughters, Holly Mehaffie and Makenzie Mehaffie; mother-in-law Carolyn Yuenger and his brother-in-laws, Oscar Del Bosque and Andrew VanVickle. Each of these individuals carries forward the memory of his kindness, humor, and unwavering support. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Kerns and Wanda Kerns; sister, Gayle Del Bosque, and Brenda Stanberry.

Bobby graduated with a double bachelor's degree, a testament to his intelligence and dedication. Following his academic pursuits, he enjoyed a fulfilling career as a Probation and Correctional officer and a Security Manager in the hotel industry. Before this, he proudly served his country in the Navy, where he achieved the rank of BM3 before being discharged on June 3, 2006. His service and commitment to others remained guiding principles throughout his life.

Avid outdoor enthusiast, Bobby loved to deer hunt, fish, and spend meaningful time with his family and friends. He cherished weekends spent under the wide Texas sky, enjoying the serenity of nature. Bobby also had a passion for reading, often immersed in a good book, always eager to learn something new. His intelligence, warmth, and zest for life enriched the lives of those around him.

A memorial service will be held at Boling Christian church on February 21st, 2026, at 2 pm.Rest in peace, Bobby. You will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
