Billy Klopsteck

August 28, 1949 — February 25, 2022

Billy Klopsteck, 72, of East Bernard passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on February 25, 2022.  He was born in Sealy, TX on August 28, 1949 to the late A.W. and Ellie Ann Lux Klopsteck.

Bill was a life-long resident of East Bernard and graduated from East Bernard High School in 1967. On September 21, 1969 he married Joyce Sklar in East Bernard. He worked at HL&P/Center Point and retired as a head lineman after almost 40 years.

Bill enjoyed working his cattle, weekends at deer camp, and many hunting trips with friends to Colorado and New Mexico (where he and fellow hunters buried the legendary Smokey Bear in 1976).  Joyce and Bill also enjoyed spending time in Matagorda in their early years of marriage at his parent’s place. In 2005, he and Joyce built a place of their own. This was where he loved spending most of his days. Friends soon learned that if the Matagorda Hardware was closed, chances are Bill probably had what you needed. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He found the most joy in taking his grandkids fishing any chance he had. Being on the water was what he enjoyed most. He was a member of the East Bernard Volunteer Fire Department in his early years, a member of the San Bernard Chapter of the CCA, and the IBEW # 66.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Jim Klopsteck; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charlie and Carolyn Sklar; brothers-in-law Chuck Sklar, Clint Wiseman, Allen Stolz; nephew Wade Stolz.

Bill is survived by his wife of over 52 years, Joyce Klopsteck; daughters, Becky Domel and husband Richie and Cassi Jedlicka and husband Rodney; grandchildren Dakota and Kenadi Domel, Colby and Blake Jedlicka all of East Bernard. He is also survived by sisters-in-law Cindy Klopsteck, Dottie McBurnett and husband Mark, Mary Stolz, Karen Wiseman and numerous nieces and nephews.
