Bettie Jane Davis Teeler

Bettie Jane Teeler, 87, of Bay City passed away on Thursday, June 26, 2025, at her sons’ house in Bay City, Texas surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 12, 1938, in Boling Texas to the late Orval Thomas and Sally Ellis Davis.

Bettie was raised in the Van Vleck area and attended Van Vleck schools. She met her husband, Sherman Teeler while working at Walgreens, and they were married on November 30, 1963, in Bay City. Bettie enjoyed working in private nurse care for many years. She loved shopping, visiting with friends, gardening and cooking, going to her church, First Pentecostal Bay City, taking in stray animals, and never allowing people to leave her house without eating! In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brothers, Billy Thomas Davis, Curtis Orval Davis, Jimmy Ray Davis, Tommy Lynn Davis, Walter Davis, and Alfred Lee Davis.

Bettie is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Sherman Teeler, daughters, Marsha List and husband, Shawn of Adkins, and Crystal Sanders and husband, Eric of Bay City, son, Sherman D Teeler and wife, Amy of Bay City, brother, Leon Eugene Davis and sister, Mary Ann Wells, grandchildren, Savannah Teeler, Laney Teeler, Shelby Billeau, Caitlin Bosley, Harley Billeau, Crystal Bass, Stormy Bass, Teighlor Ayers, Betty Pitta Lima and McKenzie Warn and great grandchildren, Zoey Garza, Parker Billeau, Zachary Cruz and Oliver Bosley.

Visitation will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home after 1pm with services at 3pm.
