Benny Molina Ferrel

Bernardino “Benny” Molina Ferrel, age 88, of Wharton, Texas, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at his residence. He was born on May 20, 1938, in Kendleton, Texas, to the late Jesus and Ramona Molina Ferrel.

He was raised in the Wharton area and attended Wharton schools. A heavy equipment operator, Benny worked for many years at Texasgulf Sulfur in New Gulf. He enjoyed his farm life, raising farm animals, tending his garden, loading and hauling hay and his grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by daughters, Patricia Ferrel and Denise Yvonne Ferrel.

Benny is survived by his daughters, Helen A. Padilla and husband, Rudy of Van Vleck and JoAnn Munoz of Rosenberg, sons, Michael Ferrel and wife, Nancy of Wharton and Bernardino Ferrel, Jr. of Wharton, sisters, Feliz Cruz and Carmen Mendez and brother, Samuel Rodriguez and wife, Maria, 15 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held on Friday, June 5, 2026, after 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton with a rosary recited at 9:30 a.m. The Funeral Mass and Rite of Committal will be celebrated at 10 a.m. with Rev. Antonio Perez officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers are Gilbert Garcia, Israel Irellano, Steven Munoz, Michael Ferrel, Joe Ruiz and Sammy Rodriguez, Jr..
