Alois Bernard Palinek, 85 of Weimar and formerly of Wharton, passed away on May 9, 2021 at his residence. He was born on August 20, 1935 in Hungerford Texas to the late Joseph and Emily Labay Palinek.
Alois was raised in the Hungerford area and attended Hungerford schools. He worked as a mechanic for Boettcher-Hlavinka Co. for many years in East Bernard before working for and retiring from Wharton ISD. He married Mary Nell Karasek in March 2003. He loved to hunt and would go every chance he got. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Nell Palinek, son, David Palinek of Green River WY and grandchildren, Jennifer, Casey, Joseph and Jocelyn and great grandchildren, Katy, Megan, Jenna, Jayci, Jillian and Joseph.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Wharton Funeral Home, starting at 5 p.m. with a Holy Rosary recited at 7 pm by members of the Knights of Columbus. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 11 a.m. at St John the Baptist Catholic Church in Hungerford with Father Charles Dwomoh officiating. A Rite of Commitment and Burial will follow at St John Cemetery.
