Alejandro Rodriguez, Jr.

September 17, 1948 — August 1, 2023

Alejandro “Alex” Rodriguez, Jr., 74, ran happily into the loving arms of his daughter, Doreen awaiting him in Heaven on August 1, 2023. He was born on September 17, 1948, in New Gulf, Tx to the late Alejandro Rodriguez, Sr. and Aurora Rubio Rodriguez

Alex was a lifelong resident of the Boling area. He was an Altar server for many years as a child at Christ the King Catholic Church in Newgulf, Texas. He graduated from Boling High School in 1967. He worked as a supervisor for Lyondell-Basell Plant in Matagorda. He really loved his job and his coworkers until his retirement in 2010. Alex’s greatest joy were his daughters and later his grandchildren. When the girls were little, he would take them “hunting” with their BB guns for armadillos or squirrels. He loved to share stories of his childhood with his family. Alex, Sr., his dad, who ran Alex’s Café in Boling, taught him how to BBQ “the right way!”. He loved history especially anything concerning WWII. He enjoyed watching the Astros and all westerns. You could often see him riding around Boling with his grandchildren. In 2010, he received the Gift of Life in the form of a kidney donation from his nephew, D.J. King.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen Rodriguez, brother, Esteban Rodriguez and nephew Andrew Rodriguez.

He is survived by his daughters, Alexia Rodriguez and Bruce Case of Boling, Leslie Rodriguez of Boling, Bridgette Matula of Boling, Suzette Torres and husband, Mike of Missouri City, and Cristina Doreen Hinojosa of San Antonio; mother of his daughters, Diana Samora Rodriguez; sisters, Azelia Stark and husband, Steven and Esmeralda DelaCruz; brother, Reynaldo Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Irma Rodriguez; grandchildren, Breann Aurora Matula, Anthony Michael Torres, Brenna Doreen Marie Matula, Alana Doreen Rodriguez, Dorien Samora Rodriguez, Jacob Keyshawn Torres and Brandon Wayne Matula, Jr.
