It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Adam Christopher Matula, who left us too soon on May 10, 2025, in Wharton, TX. Born on November 29, 1985, Adam celebrated life with a vibrant spirit and an infectious enthusiasm that touched everyone he met. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Blackeye and Helen Matula and Pete Wishert, Aunt Vanessa Wishert, Uncle Tommy Matula and his favorite puppy, Franklin.
Adam was a loving son to Richard and Dottie Matula and a devoted brother to Jessica Matula and her husband, Taylor Smith, grandmother, Bonnie Wishert, Aunt Janine Skinner and husband, Cary, Aunt Liz Krenek and husband, Alan, and Aunt Beverly Matula, cousins, James and Zach Skinner, Andrew Krenek and his wife, Symantha and their son, Kohen, Joseph Krenek and Malynn Plunkett and Eric Matula, and his husky buddy Dakota and his AA sponsor, Chris Stains. He was known not only for his skills as a pipe fitter but also for his passions that defined his joyful spirit. Adam found delight in fishing, exercising, running races with his sister, helping MaMa with her landscaping, and collecting shoes, caps, and silly shirts. His true companions were his beloved dogs, with whom he cherished countless adventures outdoors.
An enthusiastic member of his AA group, Adam valued community and connection and was an inspiration to many on his recovery journey. His love for sharing a good meal and laughter with friends and family will always be remembered.
In honor of Adam's life and spirit, a celebration of his journey will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11 am at Wharton Funeral Home followed by a reception at First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. We invite all who knew Adam to join us in a gathering of love and remembrance, where we will share stories, laughter, and our fondest memories of this beloved man.
As we remember Adam, let us carry forward his love for life and the simple pleasures he cherished. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will forever remain in our hearts.
