Secundino Alameda                         Secundino Alameda, age 66 of Wharton died Friday, March 14, 2014 in a Richmond hospital following a lengthy illness. He was born on May 21, 1947 in Edinburg, TX, a son of the late Jose and Maria Lucas Alameda.                         Dino was raised in the El Campo area and graduated school there. He served our country in the United States Army was deployed to Vietnam. Upon receiving his honorable discharge on August 6, 1970, he settled in the Wharton area. He married Soila Ballejo in Wharton on December 11, 1970. Dino graduated from Wharton County Junior College with a peace officer certificate and was trained as a deputy sheriff. He also worked in the oil field as an operator for many years. He enjoyed sports, especially watching the NFL Giants and the Texas Longhorns. Dino also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes. He was a member of the Wharton American Legion and VFW posts. He was a member of College Heights Baptist Church, where he enjoyed working and singing. In addition to his parents, his brother, David Alameda, preceded Dino in death.                                                                        A visitation was held on Monday evening at Wharton Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7pm. Funeral service held at 10 am Tuesday March 18, 2014 at College Heights Baptist Church in Wharton with Rev. Don Hurley officiating. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Serving as pallbearers were Michael Alameda, Eric Alameda, Juan Jasso, Peter Alameda Jr., Jeremy Alameda and Mark Tijerina, Jr. Honorary pallbearers were members of American Legion Post 87 and Veterans of Foreign Wars post 4474.                         Survivors include his wife, Soila Alameda of Wharton, sons, Brian Alameda and wife, Laura of Boling, Stephen Alameda of Wharton and Chris Alameda of Channelview, daughters, Melanie Solomon and husband, Mike of Wharton and Melissa Alameda of El Campo, sisters, Eva Tijerena and husband Mark of Wharton, Linda Ramirez of Wharton, Yolanda Rocha and husband, Martin of Mission, Ana Alameda of Katy, and Maggie Mejorado of Wharton, brothers, Peter Alameda and wife, Sylvia of Ganado, Robert Alameda and wife, Dora of Wisconsin, Daniel Alameda and wife, Dee of Wisconsin and Joe Alameda and wife, Frances of Wharton, 15 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.            Memorial contributions can be made to the America Kidney Foundation, 6110 Executive Blvd. Suite 1010, Rockville, MD 20852
