Leroy Kohleffel Mr. Leroy Kohleffel, age 82 of Needville, TX died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Oak Bend Medical Center in Richmond, TX. He was born on July 21, 1929 in Wharton, TX, the son of the late Oscar F. Kohleffel and Meadie Northcutt Kohleffel. Mr. Kohleffel had been a resident of Needville since 1936 and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Needville where he served as the Chairman of the Board and on the Board of Trustees, Finance Committee, Parsons Committee and as the President of the Methodist Men’s Club. He married Doris Lois Baca on June 15, 1950 in Wharton and she preceded him in death on March June 15, 1950. He was also preceded in death by his son, Kerry Kohleffel, brother, Oscar Kohleffel, Jr. and sister-in-law, Evelyn Hannusch and husband, Melvin. He worked as a first class mechanic for Texas Gulf Sulphur for thirty years prior to retiring in 1980. Mr. Kohleffel served as a volunteer for the Needville Fire Department for thirty-six years. He was active as a manager for Little League Baseball and Babe Ruth Baseball, Scout Master for Boy Scouts and served on the Live Oak Club Board of Directors, the Needville City Planning Commission and as President of the Needville Chamber of Commerce. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, May 31, 2012 in the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Pastor Ben Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call for visitation on Wednesday, May 30, 2012 from 5:00PM – 8:00PM at the Wharton Funeral Home. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Charles & Sandy Kohleffel of Needville, TX; daugher and son-in-law, Karen and Andrew Bohac of Needville, TX; daughter-in-law, Becky Kohleffel of Needville, TX; grandchildren, Aaron Bohac and wife, Carrie, Anissa Miller and husband, T.J., Patrick Kohleffel and wife, Ashlie, Adam Kohleffel and Jessica Kohleffel and great-grandchildren, Kyle Kohleffel and Benjamin Kohleffel. Pallbearers are Johnnie Hurta, Roger Reaves, Billy Mann, Michael Schneider, Leo Flores and Lynn Roesler. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the church or charity of your choice.
