Mary L. Frankum Mrs. Mary Loudenia Frankum, age 87 of Wharton died Sunday, May 13, 2012, in a Wharton Hospital following a brief illness. She was born on August 8, 1924, in Markham, Texas the daughter of the late Ed Carroll and Cassie Ruffcorne Carroll. Mrs. Frankum was a life long resident of Wharton and a member of the First Baptist Church in Wharton. She married Theo James Frankum on March 24, 1939, in Wharton and he preceded her in death on June 10, 1990. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by daughter, Ann Irwin, one grandson, one great grandson, and eight brothers and sisters. Mrs. Frankum was a long-time Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church and also provided a nursing home ministry at the nursing homes and The Meadows. She enjoyed gardening and fishing and was a former Day Care Owner. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am TODAY, Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at the First Baptist Church in Wharton with Dr. Donnie Melton officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Judy & Frank Ziober of Wharton; sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd Ray & Janice Frankum of Alvin and Ronnie & Debbie Frankum of Dothan, Alabama; sisters, Ruby Murphy of Corpus Christi and Susie Mathis of Wharton; brother, Floyd Carroll of Lake Jackson; eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great, great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be David Kagan, Clayton Irwin, Michael Mathis, Brad Frankum, Coby Frankum and Mark Wakefield. Honorary Pallbearers will be all of her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be long remembered, and missed, by her many friends and large family for her many acts of kindness and thoughtfulness during her lifetime. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to the First Baptist Church, 507 N. Fulton, Wharton, TX 77488. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home, Inc.
