John W West

John Walter West Mr. John Walter West, age 83 of Rosharon, TX died Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in Houston following an extended illness. He was born on May 9, 1928 in Greeno, GA the son of the late Charlie Carl West and Ruby Dell Willford West. Mr. West had been a resident of Rosharon since 1968 and was Lutheran by Faith. He married Mary Louise Bennetsen on March 27, 1951 in Wharton and she precede3d him in death on May 29, 2009. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Howard West. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the U. S. Army. He was a member of Iron Workers Local 84 in Houston and worked as a supervisor with the Linbeck Construction Co. for thirty years until his retirement in 1983. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home with Rev. Steven Lee officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his daughter & son-in-law, Brenda Kay and David Allen of Rosharon, TX; son & daughter-in-law, Gregory Michael and Kathy West of Angleton, TX; sisters, Nadine King of Wharton and Bernice West of Winnsboro, TX; grandchildren and spouses, Ron & Shereen Thomas, Mike & Wendy Williams and Michael & Julie West; great grandchildren, Kennedy Williams, Amber Thomas and Garrett Williams. Pallbearers were Ron Thomas, Michael West, Ricky Bennetsen, Daniel Bennetsen, Bradley, Bennetsen and Kenneth Haynes. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
