DOROTHY RAMSEY HITE Mrs. Dorothy Ramsey Hite, age 86, of Wharton died Wednesday morning, April 25, 2012 in a Sugar Land Hospital following a sudden illness. She was born on September 19, 1925 in Wharton, Texas, the daughter of the late Ira G. Broughton and Alma Neal Smith Broughton. Mrs. Hite was married to James Hite who preceded her in death on July 2, 2007. Survivors include: her sons, Rob Ramsey (and wife, Lynn) of San Antonio and Van Broughton Ramsey of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Ashley Ramsey Weaver (and husband, Kevin) of Kansas City, Kansas and Meagan Ramsey Greene (and husband, Boyd) of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; great grandchildren, Ramsey Claire, Henry, Clayton, Madeline, Sam and Eloise; and cousin Barbara Sliva (and husband Frank), of Bay City. Mrs. Hite was a graduate of Wharton High School and later studied dancing in the Los Angeles area. She taught dancing for many years in Wharton and Bay City and was active in the Puppet Ministry at First Baptist Church in Wharton, where she was a longtime member. She loved the Lord, her family, her friends, her dogs, dancing, the theater, and puppeteering. And she loved Wharton. It was where she was born, where she lived most of her life, and where she will be buried. Funeral services will be held at 10 am, TODAY, April 28, 2012 at the chapel of Wharton Funeral Home with Mr. Mickey Reynolds officiating. Pallbearers will be John Travis Bailey, Jeffrey Blair, Kenny Blair, Lawrence Burnett, Boyd Greene, and Kevin Weaver. Burial will follow in the Wharton Cemetery in Wharton. In lieu of the usual remembrances, the family asks that any memorials be sent in the form of donations to Wharton County S.P.O.T. (Stray Pet Outreach Team), P.O. Box 584, Wharton, Texas 77488. Funeral services are under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
