Mariano “Reno” Sosa Mr Mariano “Reno” Sosa, age 61 of Wharton died Sunday, April 22, 2012, at a Houston Hospital following an extended illness. He was born on June 6, 1950, in East Bernard the son of the late Emiterio Sosa and Josephine Delgado Sosa. Mr. Sosa was a life-long resident of Wharton County. He was a member of Mt Carmel Catholic Church in Wharton. Reno worked as a day supervisor for ACTEC for many years. In addition to his parents, Reno was preceded in death by his sister, Rosie Handschin and brother, John Sosa. A Rosary was held at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening at the chapel of the Wharton Funeral Home and a Funeral Mass was held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 25, 2012, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church with Father Gabriel Espinosa officiating. Burial followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include his sisters, Josie Aguilar of Wharton, Anita Solis of Sealy and Polly Villagomez of Hungerford, brothers, Robert Sosa of Wharton and Emmett Sosa of Sealy, along with many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Pallbearers were Michael Sosa, Albert Sosa, Larry Sosa, Jimmy Sosa, Steve Sosa, Brian Sosa, Arthur Aguilar and Robert Sosa, Jr. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home.
