Mrs. Viola L. Kalina, age 84 of Boling died Sunday, April 15, 2012 in a Wharton Nursing Home following an extended illness. She was born on January 31, 1928 in Needville, TX the daughter of the late Adolph Sabrsula and Lydia Muniza Sabrsula. Mrs. Kalina had been a resident of Boling for the past forty-seven years and was a member of the Abell Street Church of Christ in Wharton. She married Wilbert Willie (Bill) Kalina on November 11, 1947 in Wharton and he preceded her in death on November 23, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Sandra Kalina Morse, a grandson, Brian Scott Humberson, two sisters and three brothers. She served as a 4-H leader and Scout Master for the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. She loved reading, crossword puzzles, canning and baking. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 18, 2012 at the Abell Street Church of Christ with Mr. Paul Jones officiating. Burial followed at the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include, daughter and son-in-law, Brenda & Jerry Humberson of Wharton; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary & Rosemary Kalina of Wharton, Mike & Carolyn Kalina of Lexington, TX, Jeff & Jeanette Kalina of Boling and Wilbert & Beth Kalina of Pledger. Sisters and brothers-in-law, Pauline & Jake Kalina of Wharton, Mary Ann Dorris of El Campo, Clara & Adolph Kutach of Wharton, Theresa & Preston Howell of Edna, TX; brother and sister-in-law, Alfred & Ruth Sabrsula of Wharton; sixteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were John Kalina, Ace Blankenburg, John Thomas Kalina, Jeremy Humberson, Wilbert Kalina, Jr., Jeffrey Kalina, Jr. and Beau Malone. Honorary Pallbearers were all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to Abell Street Church of Christ, P. O. Box 790, Wharton, TX 77488. Funeral services were under the direction of the Wharton Funeral Home, Inc.
